SPECIALIST IMAGING

Specialist Imaging for Advanced Pet Care

At North Rocks Veterinary Hospital, we partner with experienced specialists in ultrasonography and cardiology to provide advanced imaging services for your pets. These technologies help us detect and diagnose complex conditions, ensuring accurate treatment and the best possible outcome for your pets' health.

Why Choose Specialist Imaging at North Rocks Vet?

By combining our in house diagnostic equipment with visiting specialists, we offer the best of both worlds: convenience, advanced technology, and specialist expertise. This collaboration allows us to deliver timely, accurate diagnoses while ensuring your pet remains in a familiar and caring environment.

Our strong network of referral specialists means your pet has access to expertise usually only available at referral hospitals. This partnership ensures that complex cases are assessed by highly trained professionals, while your pets care remains coordinated by our team.

Advanced imaging helps detect conditions at an earlier stage, when treatment is often more effective. By investing in specialist imaging, you're investing in your pets' long term health and quality of life.

Advanced Cardiac Imaging for Pets

Heart Health is critical to your pets' wellbeing. Working closely with veterinary cardiologists, we provide advanced echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) to assess heart structure, blood flow, and function. These scans are vital in diagnosing heart murmurs, arrhythmias, and other cardiac conditions, enabling early intervention and ongoing monitoring.

AllHearts is a mobile veterinary cardiology service that provides cardiac diagnostics including echocardiogram, ECG & holter monitoring. Led by ACVIM board-certified veterinary cardiologist, Dr. Brittany Stewart, AllHearts aims to maximise cardiologist accessibility, both in primary care and referral settings. Working closely with the team at North Rocks, we ensure that your pets get the quality cardiac care that they deserve.

Dr. Brittany Stewart, DACVIM (Cardiology), attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota, and where she subsequently completed a three-year Cardiology residency. Dr. Darron Ho, DVM, after completed multiple internships, was trained by Dr. Brittany Stewart to perform high level cardiac diagnostics. Adapted from the human cardiology model, AllHearts model ensures that our patients are connected to specialist care with high quality sonography.

Ultrasound allows us to safely and non-invasively examine your pets' internal organs in real time. Our specialist ultrasonographers use the latest technology to assess the liver, kidneys, bladder, spleen, and gastrointestinal system with precision. This detailed imaging helps detect issues that may not be visible on standard x-rays, allowing for faster and more accurate diagnoses.

The Vet’s North is a mobile veterinary imaging service that partners with GP clinics to deliver high quality diagnostic ultrasounds, specialist dermatology services and case reviews. The team includes experienced sonographers and Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialists who work closely with clinics to provide accurate imaging, detailed reporting, and practical case support. X-rays are best for viewing bones and dense structures, while ultrasound provides real time imaging of soft tissues and organs. Together, they give a more complete picture of your pet’s health.
In most cases, pets do not need sedation. However, if your pet is very anxious or unable to stay still, light sedation may be recommended for accurate imaging.
Most scans take between 30–60 minutes. Results are often available the same day, especially when reviewed by a specialist.
For abdominal ultrasounds, we may recommend fasting your pet for several hours to ensure clearer imaging. For cardiac scans, no special preparation is usually needed. Our team will always advise you of what is required prior to your service.
Specialist imaging allows for early and accurate diagnosis of complex conditions, reducing the risk of delayed treatment and improving health outcomes.
