PREPARING TO SAY GOODBYE

We understand that saying goodbye to your beloved pet is one of the most emotional and challenging decisions you will ever face.

Over time, your pet has become an integral part of your family, and this moment is undeniably difficult.

There is no “right” time to say goodbye, and the decision is deeply personal. You may have arrived at this decision due to your pet’s declining quality of life or on the recommendation of your veterinarian after all treatment options have been considered. Whatever the circumstances, our team is here to support you with compassion and understanding every step of the way.

KNOWING WHEN THE TIME HAS COME

If you’ve made the difficult decision to say goodbye, we are truly sorry for the pain you are experiencing. Our priority is to create a peaceful and supportive environment for you and your pet during this emotional time.

We encourage you to talk with family and friends and decide who would like to be present. Having loved ones by your side can provide invaluable support and comfort.

At North Rocks Veterinary Hospital, we aim to accommodate your preferences as much as possible. Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, but you can take as much or as little time as you need. You may choose to have your appointment inside the clinic or outdoors in our serene, grassed backyard area.

If you feel that being present during the service is too overwhelming, you can entrust your pet to us, and we will ensure their passing is handled with the utmost care and dignity.

To make the experience more personal and comforting for your pet, you are welcome to bring along their favorite blanket, toy, or treat. Whatever makes you and your pet feel most at ease is perfectly fine with us.

YOU MAY CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING:

Home Burial: Take your pet home to bury them in a place that is special to you.
Private Cremation: Your pet’s ashes will be returned to you in a vessel of your choice.
Non-Private Cremation: We will take care of your pet’s body respectfully, but ashes will not be returned.
On-Hold: Your pet’s body will be placed on hold while you take additional time to decide.

We have a price list available for cremation packages and vessels to help you make an informed decision. If you wish, you can arrange payment in advance to avoid handling financial matters on the day of your appointment. Let our reception team know, and we can provide a payment link for your convenience.

If you prefer to have the appointment in the backyard, let us know beforehand or upon arrival, and we will ensure you are directed straight to the outdoor area.
